Physical appearance: Cyan coat, orange and autumn mane, dark blue eyes. A little smaller than the average mare. Spitfire style mane and tail.
Background: Born into a family that has been with the Royal Guard for generations, Sapphire was brought up hard and rough. Her mother walked out on her when she was 2, so the only influence afterwards was her father. She was taught in the ways of military, being worked to death in physical training at least once every two days. Her father discouraged much interaction with others which led her to believe most other ponies were bad.
However, once she was sent off to boot camp, things changed. She was quite reserved when first entering the camp from her previous beliefs, but as it went on, she became more and more open. In fact, she now openly brags to friends how good she is in fencing, how she got her cutie mark.
Personality: Around her father, she is unusually cold, harsh, and unrelenting. However, the majority of the time she is away from her father, she is much more friendly. She is very striking towards insults directed at her, and will often retaliate quite fiercely. She enjoys compliments quite exceedingly, and is slightly egotistical and narcissistic. Despite this, she manages a way to compliment her friends as well and keep friends very close. She doesn't like acquaintances and takes a bit to get to be a close friend. Because of her guard training, she will protect absolutely anyone in danger, but only to a certain extent, even with friends. Her favorite pastime is to completely disregard others' thoughts when it comes to "what is right".
