(well I might as well start it's on of a few I'll probably use.)
Name: Gear Grinder
Gender: male
Race: earth pony
Age: 20 (in pony years of course)
Appearance: Has a grey coat, a short white mane, has no tail, and has blue eyes. He's a few inches taller than the average sized stallion.
Background: Gear was adopted by a family of Pegasus ponies as a young colt. He lived in Fillydelphia since he was adopted and had a good life there. His father worked as a chef while his mother took care of him and his older sister Star Shine. When he was in school he was always picked on by various ponies, mainly Pegasus ponies because he lacked wings in his family. His sister would always try to cheer him up whenever he needed it. As a child he looked up to his grandfather Cirrus as he would inspire Gear to follow his dream. He started learning about repairing and inventions, and by the time he was ten he got his cutie mark after fixing a town wide plumbing problem. It was three gears connected with one another. He started taking small repair jobs when he was in his teens and made a decent job from it. In his mid teens his grandfather died and in his will left Gear a box. He was told to open it when he knew that the time was right. When he turned nineteen he decided that the time was right and opened the box which showed a map, so he began traveling to it's destination, after a month he finally found what was on the map, a building. His grandfather left the building to him, Gear made the place into a repair shop and a supply store for traveling ponies, he named it Cirrusus and has been taking care of the shop since then. He mostly keeps the shop closed as he travels for repair jobs and buying parts for his project. He plans to make his dream come true and has been building an airship to that he can fulfill his dream of flight, and to extend his business more. Yes life has been good for this pony.
Personality: Gear can be a little hard headed at times. He also has a slight case of jealousy towards some Pegasus ponies but doesn't let it get in the way if he makes friends with one. He doesn't much care for politics and has slight OCD when it comes to his work. He also tries to make ponies happy by making various gizmos for them.
